Product code: HE1006273

Direct Delivery – up to 4 weeks.

This Build a Bioreactor Kit guides students through the design and manufacture of a bioreactor which can then be used to process milk or whey using an immobilised enzyme. The basis of the experiment is the hydrolysis of lactose found in milk. The reaction is monitored using diabetic urine testing strips which give an indication of the concentration of glucose present.

Student worksheets give an outline of the required features of a bioreactor - the rest is up to you! The teacher's notes give background information and guidelines on how to use the kit. Detailed instructions of how to immobilise the enzyme, and ideas for further investigations are also included.

Please note that none of our enzyme kits are to be considered as being of Food Grade Standard.  They are only suitable for use in education.
